It’s National Library Week!  You can participate by visiting your local library, and/or sharing how your library has made a difference in your life and your community by posting on social media and using the hashtag #MyLibraryMyStory or tagging the Black Creek Village Library in your Facebook post.

The Black Creek Village Library now has a watt meter available for checkout!  The Watts Up? watt meter measures exactly how much electricity each of your appliances is using.  It includes instructions to help you test the efficiency and calculate the annual energy usage of each electronic item in your home.  The watt meter will be stored behind the circulation desk, so if you’re interested in checking it out or just taking a look at it, feel free to ask the next time you’re in.

Check out our newest display featuring Juvenile Series.  We have all topics for every interest, and with many juvenile series, you don’t have to start at the beginning or read them in order.  Also kids, don’t forget to try out our Easter Egg scavenger hunt.  On the back of each hidden egg is a scrambled word with a clue about where the next egg is hiding.  There is a prize at the end for everyone who completes it.

It’s less than a month until our budgeting seminar on May 9th, brought to us by NeighborWorks in partnership with Fox Communities Credit Union.  This seminar will cover:

  • Financial capability and behaviors
  • Spending plans – creating one and sticking to it
  • Budgeting apps
  • Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound goals
  • How a high credit score may save you money

Join us at 5:30 pm for this free event, and take control of your financial future!

The Friends of the Black Creek Village Library have released their newest raffle basket.  It has an Easter theme, and includes a $10 gift card to Sal’s, Easter treats, hand-crafted tulips, an Easter pail, bunny-themed gifts, chicken tic-tac-toe, stickers, a decorative towel, and much more.  As always, tickets are $0.25 each or 5 for $1.00.

Once again, the Black Creek Village Library is a drop off location for the Village-Wide Rummage Sale forms.  The deadline for turning in your forms is 5 pm on April 19th

Our newest book club book pick is Storm of the Century by Stephen King: Copies of this thriller are available at the circulation desk for check out.  The next meeting of the Black Creek Library Page Turners will be Wednesday, April 24th.  Feel free to join us for the in-person discussion at 1 pm, some or all of the online discussion questions posted throughout the day, or both!  You decide!  Here is the link to the online discussion:  You can also access the discussion through the Black Creek Village Library’s Facebook page.

Having legal trouble?  We can help!  Attorney Robert D. Sweeney from Sweeney Law Offices S.C. specializes in just about everything, and has been able to help a lot of our patrons by providing free, confidential legal advice at the Black Creek Village Library on the second Monday of every month from 5 – 6:30 pm.  Time slots have been filling up quickly, so make sure to reserve yours as soon as possible.  To reserve a 30 minute time slot on May 13th, please sign up in person at the library, call us at (920) 984-3094, or email us at
