Change is great! If you have been in our children’s section recently you may have noticed a rainbow of colors on our picture book spine labels. We have just completed moving and sorting our entire picture book collection into “Neighborhoods”-essentially mini-locations. Every book has a different color on its label that corresponds to its Neighborhood and each Neighborhood has a precise location in the catalog indicating where it can be found.
These books used to be separated by first letter of the author’s last name, but now they are grouped together by subject matter and theme. For example, we now have an Animals Neighborhood and a Things that Go Neighborhood. If you are looking for a Curious George book, it would be in the Favorites and Characters Neighborhood. The books are still shelved alphabetically within the neighborhoods. We think this will make the collection easier to browse and more fun to peruse. Staff worked very hard and we are thrilled about this change!
The Wolf River Beavers 4-H Club has a collection box inside the library for new pillows, twin size sheet sets and twin size comforters. They are collecting these items for the COTS homeless shelter and the box will be here until Friday, December 20th!
Fact of the Week:
For most of the country, outdoor Christmas lights were not widely available until the late 1920’s as electricity was needed for use. The largest display of lit Christmas trees is recorded as happening on November 2, 2015, when the Hallmark Channel lit 559 Christmas trees in New York City’s Herald Square!
