We’re having a hard time believing it’s December already! Twiga has left for her yearly vacation to the North Pole, and in her place is Cookie MacNobbins – the library’s very own Elf on the Shelf! He will be hiding all over the library keeping an eye on things. If you find him, remember not to touch him, but you can tell a librarian where he is for a prize.
Our Dust Bunnies have become such a hit that we’ve decided to keep them around! This month, they’re hiding in new spots. Answer their Christmas-themed questions for a prize! You can also get prizes by answering our table topic: “What made you smile today?” or by doing our Santa and his Treats hallway project.
Also new in December – we’ve started a community puzzle on the coffee table by the furniture in the center of the library. Feel free to work on it while you’re here.
Did you know that December 10th is Melvil Dewey’s birthday? He created the system we use today to classify and organize the items in our library. He also founded the Library Bureau, the American Library Institute, and co-founded the American Library Association (ALA.) The library world would be much different today without his contributions.
We are once again collecting winter wear for Community 2000 – boots, hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, coats, long underwear, warm socks, snowsuits, snow pants, facemasks, etc. They will be distributed to those in need within our community in mid-December.
The next meeting of the Black Creek Library Page Turners will be Wednesday, December 26th at 1 pm.
Copies of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever are available for check out at the circulation desk. If you’re unable to join us for the book club meeting, (or even if you are,) you can still participate in our online discussion: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2168740469821856/?source_id=87182937411.
