June is half over this week, if you can believe it! We are celebrating summer at the library, with many people of all ages signed up for our summer reading program. If you haven't signed up yet, don't worry--you have until August to do so! There are some great prizes up for grabs.

This week, Jackie and friends are getting their fitness splurge on with the Walkie Talkies ladies' walking group on Wednesday at 9AM. On Thursday at 1PM, the Third Thursday Page Turners will be reading rock icon Patti Smith's autobiography, "Just Kids." You still have time to pick up your copy at BCVL and come! It is always a great time with a lovely group of people.

Storytime commences at 10:30 on Friday for babies and toddlers and at 11 for preschoolers. We recommend getting to the library a little early for this as there is always so much to do! Also, school-aged kids can join us on Friday at 1:00 for crafts, games, and more during Friday Funday.

If you have ever been interested in joining the Friends of the Black Creek Library, you are in luck! Their monthly meeting is this Thursday night at 6:30 PM. This wonderful group is behind the book sales, brat fries, and other "fun"draisers for the library. It is a great way to make new friends and support a great cause--the library!

Contrary to what you might think, librarians are super strong! Don't let our sensible cardigans fool you; we are experts at moving furniture! This past weekend, we worked hard to completely renovate and revitalize the library. Now, children have a designated area just for them, nearly quadrupling the amount of space they have to learn and grow. Teens and tweens have a cozy, quiet area to work on homework, chat, or just hang out, and adults have a quiet and secluded space for reading and working. You are all invited to check out the awesome new changes anytime. Don't be shy...ask for a tour!

This week, we have Black Creek 4K kids coming down to visit us and learn more about our library. We just love our young guests...they bring life and vivacity to the library!

We are also proud to host antique appraiser Mark Moran this Thursday from 5-8PM. There are only a few spots left to have your beloved antique appraised for only $5.00, with all proceeds going towards the new teen area.

With summer on the horizon, our week consists of kids coming to the library for field trips and us going to talk to students about the Summer Reading Program! Can a field trip to the library be any cooler? From getting to check out awesome books to enjoying crafts and stories, we are big fans of having lots and lots of kids use our library!

This week, there is a Friends of BCVL meeting at 6:30 PM here at the library. This amazing group of volunteers is always looking for new members, so stop on by and meeting the friendliest people in town! Also, I am hosting the 3rd Thursday Page Turners at 1:00 PM this week and we will be reading  "Heroes are my Weakness," one of my favorite romantic suspense books. It is a quick read, so if you want to come and pick up a copy before Thursday, there is still time!

Kids, come on down for storytime on Friday at 10:30 for Baby/Toddler Storytime and 10:45 for Preschool Storytime. Don't forget about Library After School Time on Friday with Miss Krista!

The library will be closed on Saturday, May 23 and Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day.

We recently purchased an enormous collection of classic movies for a really inexpensive price. Essentially, we got timeless pieces of cinema on a dime! It was an amazing purchase and it turns out that people in our neighborhood absolutely adore classic films! These movies are flying off the shelves. We also appreciate our new releases, of course, but sometimes taking it back a few decades to the black and white movies makes the viewing especially enjoyable.

Our Summer Reading Calendar is officially set, and we have movie parties scheduled! Stop on by for a calendar today.
