As the summer comes to an end, we are celebrating all of our readers! If you participated in the Summer Reading Program, you are invited to a party! On Thursday, August 13, from 5-7 PM, we will be hosting magicians and facepainters to celebrate your awesome reading successes. Then, the children, teens and adults who read the most books out of everyone this summer will be announced and grand prizes will be distributed! If you didn't read the most, don't fret, you still get a surprise just for reading at all! Storytime will continue each Friday even though the Reading Program will conclude.

I would like to take a minute to reflect on the fantastic leaders that we have here at Black Creek Village Library. Our Library Board of Trustees is made up of five Village residents who have a passion for the Library and the community! The members of our Library Board are as follows: President Melanie Stadler, Vice President Wanda Taylor, Secretary and School District Representative Lisa St. John, Marge Doty, and Jacob Severson. We invite guests! Everyone and anyone is more than welcome to attend our meetings, which are regularly scheduled for the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM at the Black Creek Village Library.

Black Creek Library is hosting lots of fun events this week like the Decorating the Library Craft-a-Thon from 12-4 PM on Monday, Teen Zombie Tag at 1PM on Tuesday, and the LEGO party from 2-5 on Wednesday. Bring a craft to the Craft-a-Thon to help spice up the library’s décor or work on some that we have! Teen Zombie Tag is a fun adventure in the park. The LEGO Party is a huge celebration of all things bricks and we will be giving away giant prizes! You can’t miss it. Additionally, Police Chief Lowell James will be here on Friday, July 31st at 10:30 AM to be our guest storytime reader!

We are happy to announce a very special guest coming on August 5th at 5:30 PM. Nick Katzfey is a manga and comics guru from Milwaukee and he will be visiting us to present his program, “How to Draw Comics.” Everyone is welcome to attend, and we are grateful to provide this program due to a grant from the Outagamie-Waupaca Library System, of which we are members! Additionally, on August 10th, we will be having a War Hero Movie Marathon from 2-6PM. The Veteran in attendance who fought the longest ago will receive VIP seating!

All Summer Reading Participants must turn in their reading sheets by August 10th before closing. We won’t accept sheets after that! On Thursday, August 13th, we will be having a grand end of the summer party in which we have facepainters, a magician, and the summer reading prize winners are announced. So, let’s make it an awesome end of the summer. We can’t wait to see you here!

June is half over this week, if you can believe it! We are celebrating summer at the library, with many people of all ages signed up for our summer reading program. If you haven't signed up yet, don't worry--you have until August to do so! There are some great prizes up for grabs.

This week, Jackie and friends are getting their fitness splurge on with the Walkie Talkies ladies' walking group on Wednesday at 9AM. On Thursday at 1PM, the Third Thursday Page Turners will be reading rock icon Patti Smith's autobiography, "Just Kids." You still have time to pick up your copy at BCVL and come! It is always a great time with a lovely group of people.

Storytime commences at 10:30 on Friday for babies and toddlers and at 11 for preschoolers. We recommend getting to the library a little early for this as there is always so much to do! Also, school-aged kids can join us on Friday at 1:00 for crafts, games, and more during Friday Funday.

If you have ever been interested in joining the Friends of the Black Creek Library, you are in luck! Their monthly meeting is this Thursday night at 6:30 PM. This wonderful group is behind the book sales, brat fries, and other "fun"draisers for the library. It is a great way to make new friends and support a great cause--the library!

Contrary to what you might think, librarians are super strong! Don't let our sensible cardigans fool you; we are experts at moving furniture! This past weekend, we worked hard to completely renovate and revitalize the library. Now, children have a designated area just for them, nearly quadrupling the amount of space they have to learn and grow. Teens and tweens have a cozy, quiet area to work on homework, chat, or just hang out, and adults have a quiet and secluded space for reading and working. You are all invited to check out the awesome new changes anytime. Don't be shy...ask for a tour!

This week, we have Black Creek 4K kids coming down to visit us and learn more about our library. We just love our young guests...they bring life and vivacity to the library!

We are also proud to host antique appraiser Mark Moran this Thursday from 5-8PM. There are only a few spots left to have your beloved antique appraised for only $5.00, with all proceeds going towards the new teen area.
