Who doesn’t love a great book sale? The Friends of the Black Creek Village Library’s huge annual Book and Bake Sale only comes once a year, but the rest of the year, we have an on-going book sale on the shelves near the door (next to the non-fiction DVDs.) We’ve received so many wonderful donations this year, and have tons of brand-new condition paperbacks perfect for taking on vacation, as well as book for all ages and interests. Paperback books are $0.25, and hardcover are $0.50. New items are added weekly, and sometimes even daily, depending upon space and availability.
If you haven’t already, don’t forget to sign up for our summer reading program! All you need to sign up is your name and library card number or phone number. The packets this year include everything you’ll need for the whole summer. Kids will earn weekly prizes for reading and completing exciting tasks and challenges, as well as chances to win several grand prizes. Prizes will change week to week, so make sure you’re stopping in often to get credit for your work! Teens and adults will earn raffle tickets for reading and completing the fun activities listed on their Bingo card, and can enter to win any or all of the grand prizes at the end of the summer.
We’re also excited about our lineup of events this summer. Stop in to pick up a copy of the calendar, or view/print the PDF version right from our website: http://www.blackcreeklibrary.org/printable-summer-2019-library-calendar-and-events.
Join us tomorrow (June 7th,) at 3:00 pm for a space movie, chosen by you! Popcorn and other snacks will be provided.
Next Wednesday, June 12th, we’ll be making bug houses from 1-2:30 pm. Be sure to stop in and make one, and then stick around for button making from 2:45-4pm. Design your own, cut an image from a magazine, or bring a favorite photo to create a special memento.
Don’t forget to sign up if you’re planning on attending our Weather on the Planets program on Friday, June 14th. Author Kelly Kizer Whitt will be doing a special reading of her picture book, Solar System Forecast at 1:00 pm, and afterward, we will make our own solar system mobiles.
Black Creek Library Page Turners and Flash Friday will be taking a break for the summer. Please stay tuned for more information coming this fall.
