Did you know that the week of Thanksgiving coincides with National Game & Puzzle week? What a perfect time to bring out a puzzle or board game. After the cooking, eating and cleaning are all finished get some exercise-for your brain that is! Playing games can strengthen connections in your brain as well as your connections to others.
We have a great collection of board games for you to use while you are here at the library. From classics (“Mr. Green in the Library!”) to fresh updates (Monopoly Harry Potter!) we have something for every age. We have gotten several fun puzzles as donations recently and have put them out on tables for those who are up to the challenge! We also have a giant memory game to check out as well as learning game kits.
Don’t forget about our fun program on Friday: a Holiday kick-off for kids to make and personalize a gift for a loved one. We will also have craft supplies out to make cards and gift tags! No sign-up is necessary, drop in when you can from 11am-3pm.
Fact of the Week:
The first jigsaw puzzles were made by a man named John Spilsbury, a Berkshire mapmaker, in 1760. They were maps of the then British Empire cut into pieces. He named them “dissected maps.” The term “jigsaw puzzle” was not used until around 1910.
