Foreword: October 25, 2018

Every October, the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) gives teens an opportunity to focus on their reading with their Teen Read Week initiative.  We (along with many other libraries, schools, and bookstores,) have expanded it to last a whole month, because there are just so many great YA books that it would be hard to squeeze them all into a week.  Our display this month is featuring the work of tons of great YA authors.  Check them out – even if you’re not a teen!  And if you’re looking for more awesome YA reading, check out these lists: 2018 Best Fiction for Young Adults - http://www.ala.org/yalsa/2018-best-fiction-young-adults, 2018 Amazing Audiobooks for Young Adults - http://www.ala.org/yalsa/2018-amazing-audiobooks-young-adults, 2018 Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers - http://www.ala.org/yalsa/2018-quick-picks-reluctant-young-adult-readers, and last, but not least, the Teen Book Finder Database - http://booklists.yalsa.net/.

It’s hard to believe Halloween is next week already!  Join us tomorrow, October 26, for an all-ages movie marathon beginning at 1 pm, featuring a selection of Halloween shorts, including Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space, Scared Shrekless, and the Goosebumps classic: It Came From Beneath the Sink.  (*Titles are subject to change depending on time and audience.)  Stick around for an exciting game of Deal or No Deal from 3:15 – 5 pm.

The next meeting of the Black Creek Library Page Turners will be next Wednesday, October 31st at 1 pm.  Copies of Nightbird by Alice Hoffman are still available at the circulation desk.  If you’re unable to join us for the meeting, consider joining the online discussion: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2168740469821856/?source_id=87182937411
