Foreword: November 2018

Thank you to everyone who has been donating all of their plastic!  We now have more than enough for a bench, and we’re still collecting through the end of November.

Thank you also to everyone who was involved in the Friends of the Black Creek Village Library Annual Book & Bake Sale.  Whether you shopped, donated, volunteered, or baked, we appreciate you!  Because of you, the Friends of the Black Creek Village Library were able to raise $676.62 for the library!  That’s a lot of books!  For those of you who missed it but would still like to help support the library, you can still donate by clicking the DONATE button on our website.  Here is the direct link to the donation page:  You can also help the library by ordering through, and selecting Friends of the Black Creek Village Library Inc. as your charity to support.  We are also now accepting gently used books, movies, CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks for 2019.

Did you know that November is Picture Book Month?  There are dozens of reasons why picture books are awesome (and important,) but don’t take our word for it – find out for yourself!  Here is the official Picture Book Month website: with everything you’ll ever want to know about picture books.  You never know – you might end up like us and start checking out stacks of them a week.

Our book displays are changing in November.  We will now be featuring holiday themed books for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Our hallway project is really fun this month.  It’s called tessellation, and it’s a series of shapes and patterns that fit together perfectly!  Tell us something that made you smile today for our table topic.  Both activities will get you a prize!  Due to the popularity of the Dust Bunnies, we are sticking with them for another month, but with new questions and new hiding places.  See if you can find them all and answer all of the questions for another prize.

The next meeting of the Black Creek Library Page Turners will be next Wednesday, November 28th at 1 pm.

This month’s book is Thanksgiving by Janet Evanovich:

“When Megan Murphy discovers a floppy-eared rabbit gnawing on the hem of her skirt, she means to give its careless owner a piece of her mind, but Dr. Patrick Hunter is too attractive to stay mad at for long.  As for Patrick, he wants nothing more than to play house with Maggie – and make Thanksgiving dinner for their families.  But Megan has wept over one failed love, and she’s afraid to risk her heart again.  Can the good doctor help heal her heart?”

If you’re unable to join us for the book club meeting, (or even if you are,) you can still participate in our online discussion:
