Library Programs

StoryTime

We’re taking a break from storytime!

We’ve been keeping a close eye on the number of COVID-19 cases in the area and have decided to play it safe and take a break from storytime. We’ll miss hosting the program, but we’re still able to provide access to the library and its great selection of books. (Don’t forget the grab-and-go activities!) We have take home storytime bundles ready for checkout, and we’re happy to help you build a customized book bundle.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Black Creek Village Library Challenges You to Read 1000 Books Before Kindergarten!

Do you read at home with your child?

Come sign up for our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Reading Program!

This is a program to promote reading with your child at home.  Did you know that research shows the most helpful thing you can do to prepare your child for learning is to read together?

It’s simple!

Each time you read a book, record it in the provided reading log. Then, after you and your child have read 100 books (completed your reading log), turn it in at the library. We will give you and your child a new reading log. Each child will have a paper book displayed at the front of the library for tracking progress. When your young reader has reached the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten goal, he or she will receive a special prize and have his or her picture taken for the Library’s 1,000 books wall of fame.

*If you read one story before bed every night, that’s 365 books!  Don’t forget, if you re-read a favorite that counts as two!
