Foreword – January 29, 2024

It’s the season for mittens, and The Three Little Mittens, which was written by Linda Bailey and illustrated by Natali Shalovshvili, is a charming story of mittens of different patterns who know their usefulness (and joy) depends on having a matching set. If your match goes missing, you’re staying in a pocket. One day, the Little Girl asked, “Why do you have to match?” and everything changes for the better. It’s a story of belonging, turn taking, and being yourself. Fair warning: children may start to question why socks have to match. (It’s a fair question.)
