It’s the time of year when a sense of coziness is a highly desirable goal. Are you looking for a book that feels like a nice, warm hug or a cup of hot cocoa? Look no further than the picture book Blanket: Journey to Extreme Coziness by Loryn Brantz to unlock the many powers of a blanket and the adventures it can provide. Chapter book readers may enjoy Astrid the Unstoppable by Maria Parr. Nine-year old Astrid, whose nickname is “the little thunderbolt,” is a free spirit who loves skiing (and signing loudly while doing so). Her world is simple but a bit quiet—her godfather Gunnvald is kind (and a bit grumpy), but she doesn’t have any children to play with. Change is in the air when a new family arrives in town along with a young woman everyone seems to know except Astrid. Is Astrid ready for the adventures these changes will bring?
In our efforts to counter the winter blahs, we’re posting a new sticker mosaic poster for library users to contribute to on each visit to the library. What’s a sticker mosaic? Instead of paint-by-number, it’s sticker by letter. Each letter on the poster is coded to a specific color square. Each day you visit the library you may take a small sheet of stickers and place them in the locations with the designated letter. Together, we’ll create a mystery image that will slowly take shape.
Storytime continues on Thursdays at 10:15, and our Tuesday slate of after school programs continue at 3:30 each week.
