Foreword – October 7, 2024

Storytime continues on Thursdays at 10:15 a.m. Children and their caregivers are invited to join us for stories, songs, silliness, and more! This month’s programs focus on elements of growing up.

Youth after school programs continue.  A special youth program is scheduled on Thursday, October 10 at a special time (4:00 p.m.)—Paint After School! Our Paint Night instructor, Ashley, will have a project for youth. The program will also run longer—the planned end time is 5:30, though we’ve built in painting time until 6:00 p.m. All supplies will be provided. Space is limited, and registration is required. We’re past the deadline to secure a but we may be able to accommodate late registrants on a first-come, first served basis. Please contact the library at 920-984-3094 or stop in to sign up.

The statewide Wisconsin Science Festival is October 14-October 20, and youth can get in on the fun on Thursday, October 17 at 3:30 p.m for a science program—Will It React? In addition to exploring what happens when different compounds combine, it will include oobleck, which is in the non-Newtonian fluid family, also known as slime.

Calling all adult (and older teen) aspiring painters! Come and breakout your paintbrushes and your artistic skills! Paint Night returns on October 11, 6:00 p.m.- 8 p.m. Participants will paint a landscape featuring birch trees at sunset. All supplies will be provided. Space is limited, and registration is required. We’re past the deadline to register, but we may be able to accommodate late registrants on a first-come, first served basis. The next Bug Tussel University class is October 12, 9:30 -11:30 a.m., and the topic is internet safety. Participants will learn steps and strategies they can take to protect their information and improve their safety while using the internet. Basic tech experience is expected, and attendees are encouraged to bring a person device to use during the class. Space is limited, and registration is required. Are you interested in learning to crochet but aren’t sure where to start? Join us for Crochet Club, which will meet weekly on Mondays, 5:30-7:00 p. m., through December 16, excluding October 21. Yarn arts enthusiasts of all abilities and types (including knitters) are welcome, but we’ll only provide instruction for crochet. Registration is not required but is encouraged for beginners so we can have supplies to help get you started.

Black Creek Village Library will be closed on Monday, October 21 for staff training. Regular hours resume on Tuesday, October 22.
